11th May 2015 - Slice of H Alpha

Didn't quite manage a full disk but grabbed a couple of H alpha videos when I got home tonight. 2 x ser files of 1000 frames stacked in AS!2, sharpened in imppg and stitched in MSICE. I did take ser's of the other hemisphere but couldn't get anything from them. Seeing was pretty poor at this point in the day.

I'm still struggling with flats a little. Even with the Baader 2.25x barlow I cannot illuminate the full frame of the camera through the PST. This leaves me with an uneven flat   I think I may have to go to a 2.5x or 3x barlow in order to solve this problem.

Still some good detail in this hemisphere. In my Solar Spectrum set-up I also cannot get full illumination of the chip, so I take a (large) ROI and record that. I found it is better to take more smaller panes than fewer big ones.

STill some decent detail. Agreed it is better to take more smaller panes than big ones, the only decent mosaic i have managed was with this technique.

Well done, David, you got a lot of detail despite the seeing.

'Twas a blank for me yesterday and looks like no solar brekkie this morning either, but last week was reasonably kind to me so maybe I am due a bad run.
