Saturn, 2-5-15

Thought I'd have a crack at Saturn ... as you all know It's very low in the sky and just cleared the neighbours roofs at 02:30 ish.

5% of 2000 frames , a bit noisy as I had to use 80% gain with my little C8 to get a decent frame rate !

Pipped / Autostakkert / R6 wavelets

for comparison heres what I managed 2 years ago when it was better placed (and in a dark feild  )

The older image was with a 150 Mak / spc900 , just goes to show that seeing and conditions are as important as equipment !

Nice shot. Did you use the 250PX and what EP / Barlow etc?

I've recently bought a 250px and I have the same problem with it having to clear my neighbours roof, but can see it just after midnight.

I'm hoping to get a good view with my new 7mm Celestron x-cel EP.

No It was the C8 on an AVX mount with a 2 x barlow

Nice....worth staying up for then ;-) not sure if your capture software allows you to overclock the camera?, or adjust the USB rate?

I used fire capture Steve, it was all fully tweaked
