Hi Steve,

Sorry, sounds like i was getting the wrong end of the stick. You mentioned the images Rog had taken and some other references to getting more out of a bright image when proccessing. I presumed you thought i was saying the Apo was a better imaging device.

Just to add, we tried the Baader Moon & Skyglow and it improved the C8 but not enough to get close to the view though the refractor. There wasn't any extra detail in the C8. I'll choose a better night and do this again. Take my time. I really don't think the outcome, visually, will change though.

You're not misunderstood Steve, you just know more optics than I do and i'm not conveying my thoughts correctly. And in turn not answering your questions.

I've only had a quick look but the upshot of those links (small sample size admitedly!!) is that in theory the aperture wins but in practice the apo does.... :sunny: :sunny:
