..feel the width

Last night rare clear skies so quick play with LCx2 on 30cm SCT @ f/4 via f/3.3 FR and LL v0.11 for first time here on the Hosehead [b33] in exp of 5s, 10s, 15s and 30s - no filters.  Knowing the HH is such a trial to eyeball even under good skies I still get a buzz to snap it from suburbia :police:

You need a 35nm Ha with all the light pollution!

Thanks Nick - I've heard of broadband but what does the 'other' 34nm do?

Here's more from my LLv0.11 session - not much luck with colour - the 'Hue Wheel' doesn't seem to counter my LP but early days.

M42/M43 in various forms - 1st one with post Hue [sorry forgot exposures but brief] ...Eskimo Pne/ NGC 2158 OC [nr M35]/ Flame N2024.

Note the square 'hot pixel'.   I'd like to PM users of W7 using LLv0.11 TIA :police:

Ooo sharp point there - however the same is true for the majority of narrowband filters, unless you're doing Angstrom pass width..

My point was that even the cheaper filters for Ha can cut through the light pollution (my 35nm Ha was about £30 for a 2" filter). Using them on targets such as the HH means you can cut through LP nicely - making fast scopes a boon.

Hi Maurice

It's there but very faint - I've not got the hang of using it yet, although I stretched it a lot, I did not get the usual grainy background associated with stretched images.

I also have a high pressure sodium light very close by to the south of my garden - not sure if this spilling into the Ha band.

Paul - I don't think HP sodium [Na] lamp could leak into Ha but suppose it depends on the filter bandpass.

Here's my LP sodium and HP sodium spectrograms [+DS filter bandpass] and a Philips mercury lamp.

ps- I can see your HH on my laptop !
