Fitting a 6.3 reducer on celestron c8- help

I have acquired a C-8 SCT in Carbon fibre and I am trying to fit the reducer.

The trouble is I cannot get the visual back off, seems very tight and I do not want to cause any damage. I tried holding the screws that hold the diagonal and this twists anti clockwise but is tight and doesn't appear to do anything.

I am sure it is something obvious but the OTA manual doesn't say much

the visual back should just screw off

You might need to warm it up, a towel left on a radiator to warm up, then wrapped round the visual back might help......

You could also try a domestic rubber glove, this would give you more grip. Good luck.

Or something like a "Boa" wrench. That allows you to apply even pressure around it so it doesn't flex & create "high" tight spots when trying to grip & turn. Had to do this many a time with cold welded adapters.

I find a wide elastic band works well. The one on my C8 was very tight, the band worked a treat.

When you do get it off (using one or more of the above suggestions) give the threads a light coat of boot polish - your choice of colour! This will stop the threads binding in the future.
