DSLR filter removal

Does anyone have a link to a set of instructions for removing the IR filter from a Canon 50D?  I want to see how complicated it is before deciding whether to pay someone to do it for me :-).  I'm not afraid of electronics and soldering, but a description of the process or some instructions would be great, so that I can see and decide.

Note I'm going to dedicate this camera to astro-photography so all I plan is removal, not replacement.

Cheers,

-simon

Be warned , if you dont put in a placeholder you might get into big trouble focusing!

It seems that's only a problem if I want to keep using the camera with normal lenses for autofocus, but I should be fine using manual focus -- is that incorrect?

This camera will be dedicated to astro-photography and all focussing will be done using the telescope...
