Finally got my first Comet - Jacques

Recommended Posts

After meaning image this comet for a long while I finally got round to it last night.

Image is quite noisy as cropped and the use of lots of different ISO's every thing from 800 to 3200 and times between 30s and 60s - total of about 10 mins.

I had no idea what the best setting would be and the moon didn't help either.

Anyway despite the noise I have my first ever comet both visually and as an image. So for that I am very happy.

Taken using my usual stuff:
SW 150 PDS, EQ5 Pro Synscan GOTO.
Guiding: SW ST80 and QHY5.
Modded Canon 600D and coma corrector with CLS clip filter.

Using: BYEOS, PHD, DSS, Photoshop CC.

Congratulations on your first comet, nice image showing the motion. Jacques is my first one too, I've imaged it twice now - the first time by design and the second by accident when it was passing the Garnet Star.

There is a comet+stars mode in DSS for stacking the background and stars separately and combining them, but I haven't been able to get it to work.
