New NEQ6 seems to be set up for southern hemesphere ??

I've just unboxed my new NEQ6 and assembled it and I'm well impressed and a bit surprised by the size of it over my EQ5

but first thing I noticed is the mount seems to be sitting 180 deg rotated compared to my EQ5
instead of the weight bar sitting in line with the North facing leg its between the two "Back Legs"
I see there is another hole for the locator pin am I correct in thinking I need to move the pin so the mount is orientated the same way my EQ5 is

yep just move the pin.  From memory mine came that way too.

done it, you would think they would supply a spanner to fit it
had to dig out my old tool box but all is well now

It's still like that. I like my south facing leg. It piques my exhibitionist streak

I'll stick to the conventional configuration for the North hemisphere

This happened to me when I got my new mount. There was an "Oh, No!" moment as I thought about how to shift the three paving slabs cemented into place on which my old mount had stood. Then I realised I could move the pin. Phew!

I've never bothered to move mine either.

Are there any benefits or is it just convention to have a North facing leg?
