I've had satellites before but this was much brighter and a bit wider than the normal sat tracks

How long was the exposure ?
I've had these before and have always presumed them to be 'close' satallites, ISS maybe ?

Both Heavens-above and Calsky list what they term "The Brighter Satellites", so I would assume it is one of those. You would need to supply your location and time to check up, suspect that Calsky has the more brighter ones but I never can get my location into it easily, keeps defaulting to where it thinks I am at from the IP address, and that is usually 15-20 miles different.

Looks to me to be the ISS.

If it was a different satellite, it probably be dimmer and if it was a plane then I think there would be other light trails with it.

pesky satellites have spoilt many a good image, but on the other hand i have some very nice ISS images as well
