Dirty mirrors

Just checked my scope and found dirt on both mirrors of my 8" dob,what is the best and safest way of cleaning them?

Can you post images?. They really have to be seriously seriously dirty before they make a difference to the views.

Can't post images at the mo,it looks like a fine dust on the primary and a smudge on the secondary (condensation drying out?) have used the scope a lot recently and it seems fine just a bit worried that's all

It doesnt sound like much to worry about. The smudge on the secondary might be the worst. That can easily be cleaned with something like distilled water (de-ionised water) or similar, available in pharmacist's. A rocket blower to remove dust from the primary is about all i would think is needed.

How long have you owned it James?

It normally takes a good few years to accumulate enough filth on a primary to worry about cleaning it. They really can get filthy without effecting performance.

I've had it since last summer,I've always kept all of the caps on when not in use

ive just mine on the 14" only cause the previous owner had attempted to try and left smear marks. if your going to do it make sure you have everything prepped this is key to avoid accidents, but i wouldnt worry if it looks like dust just leave till you cant see the center spot
