Eyepieces finally arrived..

I bought these from the States at a decent price. One of my folks kindly brought them over to me in the UK.

Explore Scientific 14mm 100-deg   &  Delos 10mm. Until I've had my first light with these, here are some photos

Nice stuffs Emad, and I thought Delos were long EPs, that ES14 must  be about the size of your Scopo

I've got the 12mm and 14mm Delos (about the same size as the 10mm), so I'm definitely glad I didn't go for the 14mm Explore Scientific.. it's huge! I wouldn't have had space for it in my current case .

The ES is 100-deg, so naturally it will be large. Funny enough, it's still slightly lighter and marginally smaller than the Baader Scopos 35mm.

Very nice eyepieces Emad 

I've yet to use a Delos but I did own an ES 100 / 20mm for a while and that was a very fine eyepiece indeed.

These eyepieces are large because they house large lens elements which are needed to allow a light path though them which delivers hyperwide and yet sharp and reasonably flat fields even with todays fast scopes. It's a tough trick to pull off and needs some very clever optical engineering and exotic glass types. My Nagler 31 has at least one lens in it nearly 80mm in diameter which it why that one is so fat !

Some "fat" eyepieces are mostly bodywork though and the actual optical elements could be fitted into a much slimmer casing. 

I note that your 14mm is Argon purged. Mine was Nitrogen purged. Does it make any difference ? - who knows !

The ES is not actually that heavy. I think around 700 grams. It'll be perfect in the 6" refractor where I need more weight on the focuser end in order to push the scope higher up on the giro saddle.

I know the box looks pretty but I know which one of those I want again. I hope this run of half decent weather continues for you, it looked as if a good deal of the UK got some judging by Stargazers Live the last few nights, prey may it continue for you to first light them.
