need help with orion st120 replacment

Recommended Posts

hello.

i need some advice on choosing my next telescope:

for about 3 years now, i have the orion st 120, it is a great

scope- for wide field views and a few dso's, but i want a telescope

that will be better for planets and can go deeper with dso's.

so i was wandering- will an 8 inch dob show me segnifecent impruvment

in thos objects over my 120 st?

Thanks

Hi & welcome to SGL.   As said by others, an 8" Dob will be a big step up from the 120 ST, for both deep sky & planets.

But I'd hang on to the 120 ST, as it will do some things better, low power wide field, and very portable.

An 8" Dob and a 120 ST would complement each other nicely.

Regards, Ed.
