Kit-Fox
Howdy folks Whats the best way to clean a mirror, specifically what i think might be tiny metal flecks without causing scratches ?there arent many and it doesnt affect visual use, but i'm tihnking it might affect taking pictures with it and leaving them in place while moving the scope might cause problems too as they will no doubt move from the vibrations of just moving the scope from one place to anotheris it doable? or best to leave them where they are ? John
I'd just try and puff them away with a manually operated high power puffer. I use one of these:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Large-Hurricane-Air-Blower-Sensor-Lens-Eyepiece-Cleaner-/280624032079If the mirror is tilted downwards then the particles usually blow / fall right off so you won't need to touch the mirror at all. Zakalwe
Unless it's filthy then it won't make any difference.http://stargazerslounge.com/topic/164263-primary-mirror-cleaning/?p=1663363
John
If the dirt on the mirror is metal wont using a blower cause scratches ?It should blow right off. It's more likely to cause damage if you try and wipe it off.
