newbie sun with refractor

Very good start. Is it a single exposure or did you stack multiple frames?

hi

it's just a single exposure, with the LP filter on LOL

The solar film I had was too small so I had to make an elaborate step down with cardboard etc. S I must get a proper, larger one made up.

There are some amazing images of the sun on this forum. I guess a dedicated solar scope is needed for these?

Good result, mindburner, focus and exposure are fine. I managed similar quality single shots with Nikon D40 and a 102 mm refractor. Now you should try stacking, as little as 7-10 frames will give huge improvement in sharpness.

hi that's great advice, yes I must have a more serious attempt with multiple shots and see if stacking produces a bette result.

A tremendous start :) a super shot :)

Stacking will work wonders.

aw thanks. I must say the sun is a wonderful thing to behold, a dedicated scope is surely a great investment and something I would love to get in the future
