Hi guys i know there are many pages on here about DIY webcams but with out trawling through millions of pages, could someone point me in the direction of a decent webcam which costs less than £20 or even better £5 lol which i could mod for good viewing with a celestron nexstar 127 slt?

The Xbox camera is cheap and cheerful, not too hard to modify and gets you started, but performance improves as you pay more. I posted some comparisons of webcams some time back. I'll see if I can find them again.

The Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000 uses the same sensor as the SPC900 and can usually be obtained cheaply. The circuitry in the SPC900 is better for long exposures but if you're just doing lunar & planetary that shouldn't matter too much.
