SN in M74 - SX MX916 cam 2x2 binning

Last night had a play with my SX MX916 CCD cam in 2x2 binned mode - binned pixels reduces resolution but importantly increases cam sensitivity by a factor of ~x2 for deeper images in less exposure.

Here's a 12x10s auto align/stack x2 manual stack = 120s exp. The binned images appear a tiny 376 x 290 pixels but here I've rescaled ~x2 which is acceptable. Hope its of interest

Another great image. ..wonder how it would compare against a single two minute exposure with a dslr...got you all thinking now...start posting your thoughts lol ...Davy.

Two minutes with a DSLR... Davy... you are starting to sound like a hardcore imager now... Lol!

We should all agree to a gentleman's (and ladies) agreement - max exposures 60 seconds...!

We got to see this through our scopes on Friday evening, it was at mag 12.2 then.

Just slipping beyond the tree when I came to image, so had to settle for M33 tonight - I'll try again a little earlier tomorrow evening!
