EQ6 Syntrek Speed

Hi, I have an EQ6 Syntrek mount. Is it normal for the mount to be moving slowly when I use the hand control? I presume it moves much faster with a Synscan Hand Control.

I have locked the Dec and RA axis. It just seems strange to me that they move really slowly.

the syntrek is a lot slower from memory 16x is max, I upgraded to synscan and the new motors give approx. 800x as a max. For the syntrek unlock find and track is about it.

You can change the slewing speed . . . It's explained in the manual , pages 4 and 5 I think.

16x really isn't quick, either. Sidereal rate is (near enough) fifteen degrees per hour or quarter of a degree a minute, so 16x is only four degrees per minute. I imagine it would take a fair while to notice that just by watching the mount.

The manual should explain how to set the handset to give the fastest slewing rate (800x) , which is the same as the Synscan.

I have the EQ6 manual but it doesn't mention the hand control.

Thanks so much Steve! I think they mistakenly gave me the Synscan Manual, and so I thought there wasn't one for Syntrek.
