Anyone know where Skywatcher manuals can be downloaded from? They don't seem to be available on their website.

The Skywatcher site has them but is down at the moment. Optical vision are the UK importers and I believe have the manuals available on their site.

I saw a thread here the other day saying the Skywatcher site was down. Many people here own/have owned SW scopes. Is there any particular thing you want to know about setup etc. I'm sure SGL members will be able to help you.

(Edit: Same site as DigitalDev just posted - this is the "index page" SW describe their scopes by the mount not the telescope itself - they seem to assume you can operate the telescope itself without any instructions !!! )

Thanks for the links. I'm not looking for any scope in particular - just trying to inform myself a little more. I tend not to believe things until I've read about them

Don't get your hopes up too much as the manuals are fairly basic

That's def. a good habit to be in, especially with electronics and I assume astronomy as well.

As Pyrodave mentions, the Skywatcher manuals are a bit like chocolate kettles.........useless, your better off just googling reviews for the type of scope your after. They ARE good scopes for the money though, i've got the 200p & love it, the manuals just tend to let them down.

Without being too controversial the Synta manuals are actually better than most people believe them to be, read this one if you don't believe me http://www.saxon.com.au/uploads/pdf/MC20325EQ5.pdf . This one is four pages long and barely covers the operation of the mount.

The skywatcher manuals are hilarious, my favourite one is for the auto focuser, obviously translated from Chinese by someone with only the slightest grasp on the English language

Actually the one for the new AZ EQ6 is rather good, with its companion for the latest Synscan software its a good guide and answers tons of questions newbies ask. The polar alignment routine is pretty well explained as well.
