Lunar X

That's very cool, what is the lunar x? I want to see it now :D

The Lunar X is, well, that small X-shape in the middle of my pic! It's formed by light catching the lunar surface at a certain place at a certain time of the month - it's visible for only maybe 3 hrs each month, around half-moon time (I took that picture around 10pm on Sunday night). So you'll have to wait til next month!

Thank you for the explanation, I will be on the look out for that, I did see the x-shape in your picture just didnt know how and when it was created.

Thanks again

Well done Squagnut! I think that is the clearest Lunar X I have seen so far.

Thank you. The seeing wasn't great and it's a single exposure, so there's a bit of wobbly air affecting it, but I'm pleased. I'm testing the QHY guidecam as an imaging camera on a SkyMax127, which can give very clear results with good seeing (really the QHY is for guiding a bigger telescope for DSO imaging, but this was a grab 'n' go session). I should have got out a Philips SNC900 and stacked an .avi, but this was late Sunday and I had a busy Monday ahead.

I also imaged that Lunar X :)

You got that with a 3-inch Newt and a webcam? Nice one! Better than anything I got from my first 'scope.
