The Sun in Ha 18-2-13 (Through cloud and double glazing)

Hi,

The sun never came out from behind the mist today, so I shot the following picture at about 3:45pm through cloud and double glazing from work, just to get another view of the large filament.

Very big and very beautiful, at least it is still there, I wonder when it will lift

Cloud and double glazing - your just showing off . That prom has certainly lasted a while - If you consider the spot on the right is about the size of the Earth then you get some idea of its sheer size!!

Thanks everyone. I looked on Gong this morning so put my scope in the boot in the hope of a gap in the cloud. Since it got to late afternoon and no break I thought I would have go anyway. The sun had gone from the car park, my usual place and the office next to mine was the only place with a view. Unfortunately the windows don't open very far so it is best just to keep them shut. The double glazing reduces the contrast a little but not as much as a thin layer of cloud.

Tomorrow looks promising, but I am not sure I will have time, I have to gear up for going on site.

I've never seen a filament that large before, came as a bit of a shock. That Prom at the top looks quite nice.

Great capture, I'd be happy with that from a sunny day in the garden let alone a cloudy one indoors!!!
