Advice on lenses Cleaning

I would like to ask, what materials, fluids you use or would advice to use for cleaning the lenses of your binoculars?

I have baader optical fluid and micro cloth, which I have used on eyepieces, I also have a celestron lens pen which has so far not been used. Iintially purchased for future eyepiece cleaning, I certainly would like to consider it for binoculars if considered applicable (or at least the brush).

This is not something I imminentley need to do, as they are still fine for observing so will leave them for as long as possible and I do not enjoy cleaning expensive optics. My bins though are inevitably accumulating some slight smudges and a recent clumsy finger mark, so eventually I may have to tackle it.

The baader optical fluid and micro cloth will work fine. Use a blower, if you can, to remove any loose dust from the optics first to minimise the possibility of scratching the surfaces.

Thanks, I assumed that the baader wonder fluid ought to be OK, just felt I'd check if other options such as Opticron binocular lens cleaner would be more specific, but I expect that it is much the same formula.

Sorry for the the hijack but When using the wonder fluid, do you put it on, let it evaporate and then use the cloth or use the cloth when the fluid is still a liquid?

I do it while it's still wet, give it an initial wipe and then use a dry part of the cloth to finish off. I hear others spray onto the cloth first but i spray straight on.

Just today i found a great doc file on the stellarvue yahoo group on how to clean optics and prism diagonals but i don't know if i'm allowed to attach the file here ?

I'm sure I read somewhere that it should be sprayed on to a cloth first, to avoid and liquid finding it's way behind the lens.

Don't touch the optics. Use a blower to get rid of surface particles and a very light brush for any thing more stubborn.
