Feb 10, 2013: Sun in white light; first try with DSLR and APT

Had my first go with APT and my EOS 450D behind my APM 80mm F/6, using Herschel wedge, ND3 filter, Baader Solar Continuum filter, TeleVue 2.5x PowerMate. Exposures at 400 ISO, 1/160s, Raw images cropped, centred, and converted to 16bit TIFF in PIPP, stacked 27 exposures out of 61 with Registax 5. Downscaled by a factor of 2. Not bad for a first try but I need to get rid of the Baader filter and shorten exposure time that way.

Thanks, guys. The sun was quite low in the sky by the time I managed to get it. The view through the Herschel wedge using an XW10 was nice and sharp. I do indeed think it is sharper than the image with the C8 and Thousand Oaks filter. I might do a side by side comparison.
