Welcome to SGL

You can have a lot of fun imaging with nothing more complex than DSLR and standard lenses, but I'd do your research with the zoom lenses. They can suffer from distortion problems because of the compromises made to get the lens to work at a large range of focal lengths.

Hi Enrique. The Magellanic Clouds are irregular dwarf galaxies. There are two, large and small. Otherwise known as the LMC & SMC. I ask you because they are not visible at all to most people in the northern hemisphere.

You may need to go to a very dark sky area to see them & at a time when they are at a good height in the sky.
