Standard HEQ5 with EQMOD

Santa bought me a shiney new mount!! Im curious if the Standard HEQ5 can be used with an EQMOD unit such as this one http://www.rotherval...-mod_d4579.html ? I think im going to be out of luck and have to upgrade it with the goto kit as I dont think the standard motors will be up to it but the item on RVO mentions only HEQ5 no mention of pro or syntrek versions just threw me a bit so thought id ask the question here

Hi Steve,

Have a read of this thread.

I used EQmod with my HEQ5 - no handset and just the USB-Serial adapter - and it worked brilliantly.

BTW - you an buy that adapter cheaper just here.

Yes, meant to say mine was a pro syntrek. Must be at least a syntrek model.

I am not sure if you can get the motors without the handset to reduce cost then you can control with eqmod.

Yeh. Spending £330 have just shelled out £520 is a bit too much of a stretch. Don't think the motors and board are available on there own. Cheers though. I have made enquiries about returning the standard mount and purchasing a syntrek instead. I can then purchase the EQMOD unit for it at some point.
