6v power adapter for dual axis motors

Can anyone tell me if this adapter would be ok to power my eq5 dual axis motors its 6v and the cord looks quite long

Not necessarily as there is no indication of the current available. If you want it for the EQ5 you will need a supply capable of at least 2A (2000mA) for fast slewing - maybe a bit less.

I guess that the difficulty might be whether or not the cord is long enough for you to plug it in indoors? If you had to use a extension cable, I would be worried about water/dew etc? I just use rechargeable D batteries with my EQ5 DA motors.

I'd go for something that is clearly stated as a regulated supply and would agree with the above that you should get at least a 2 amp supply (the mount will draw the current it needs so no problem having a supply rated at higher ampage than you need).

Try one of these if there is a Maplins close:

At 6v it supplies 2.5 amp.

You just select the end piece that is correct and make sure that the centre pin/tip is set correct, usually cemtre positive.

Have 2 and they work fine.

Not sure if they do a heavier duty one, check if they do.

I should have said that I use a 6v 4Ah lead acid battery for my own EQ5 with dual motors. I have made a box for it and a power lead etc. This will happily run the mount for a couple of hours and cost under £15 for all the bits including the battery and charger. Should you need longer "run time" then a larger capacity 6v battery will do the trick for you.
