Heads up for GRS

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I posted this here as although it's a planetary observing topic, some beginners will not have seen the great red spot on Jupiter yet. The GRS is just coming around the edge of the planet now (the limb). In my scope ( a newtonian / dobsonian), the view is 'upside down' so the GRS is on the right hand side on the edge of the top (southern) dark brown bands. The GRS's mini me is also clearly visible and is in front of (i.e. to the left of) the GRS. Over the next hours or so the GRS will move more towards the centre of the belt and be more obvious still. Look for where the dark band tails off to nouthing like a wedge. All this at about 122x so no great magnification needed.

Good luck everyone and hope you have clear skies too. It's parky though. Ice already on my scope in Stockport.

Cheers

Shane
