DSLR lens USB telescope

Hey guys, I've been playing around with attaching a webcam to verious DSLR lenses all night and I've found it makes a fairly powerful telescope in terms of equivalent focal lengths. It seems like such a simple idea so someone must have done it before.

Here's a quick video I just made looking at Jupiter using a 300mm sigma lens set at 180mm.

DSLR lenses can make reasonable scope, I played with the idea in 2010 by making up an adaptor for the rear of my Canon lens to give me a 1.25" nose piece connection http://www.photosbykev.com/wordpress/2010/09/20/spc880-webcam-and-the-moon/

Nice idea but am not sure I want to start using tape in the back of the lens in case there is a problem when I come to fit it on the camera later. Kev, your setup looks better and probably more stabler, might have a plastic black end cap spare I can adapt to hold the cam

Get a T2 adapter then you can use a T2 - 1.25 to take the webcam. I've done this in the past.

Thanks Gina, do have one, been running all the parts I have through the grey matter, should be able to cobble something together with a few clicks
