eyepiece advice

need some advice guys i am debating whether to buy 11mm tv plossl and celestron xcel lx 5mm what i am thinking is how well do tv plossls barlow if they barlow well with 2 shorty plus would it still be worthwhile buying xcel lx eyepiece as well or just barlow tv plossl

I would imagine an 11mm plossl would barlow quite well. Barlowing will double the eye relief too, so at longer focal lengths where eye relief is already quite long, it becomes too long. An 11mm plossl will have short-mid range relief, probably 8mm or so, so shouldn't be too bad.

I used to use the Celestron Ultima 2x barlow with Tele Vue plossls and later Naglers too. The Orion Shorty Plus, as long as it is the Plus one, is the same as the Ultima 2x so should work just as well - nice Japanese optics in them

yes john it is the plus one would you sugest ditching the 5mm excel lx eyepiece and just barlowing the 11mm tv plossl

The 11mm TV Plossl will be a good one, good medium range and should Barlow well. I would do this and forget the 5mm LX, I am sure the first combination will fill the gap.
