Short Solar session.

Despite a forecast of nothing but solid cloud, the Sun managed to clear out pretty well yesterday afternoon. Enough time to have a quick capture run with both of my scopes. :)

Conditions were far from Perfect with some haze and a few thin clouds about, and i was in a rush because of needing some shopping before town closed. But i was reasonably pleased with the results.

I ran with the refractor 1st up. Sunspot groups 1610-1616 and 1 new as yet undesignated active region in 2 shots. I'm assuming it will be 1617.

I popped in the focal reducer. Didn't realise i'd missed the focus by just enough to spoil the stack. Got distracted waving at a mate down on the street below. But there was something to be salvaged. No idea that i'd caught a plane heading through the shot. So i whipped up this little GIF using this free software http://www.video-gif-converter.com/ :-

Changing over to the Newt, i got my orientation all wrong and somehow missed AR1610. 1611-16 and the new 1. These came out slightly sharper than the refractor. 2 more shots:-

All 2000 frames captured with SharpCap at 30fps, keeping around 200 frames each image.

Thanks for looking,

Baz.
