Could someone recommend me a decent travel scope?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys :)

I will be travelling further towards the equator next year and am hoping to find some dark skies on the caribbean island I'm going to. Even though I have some binoculars (celestron skymaster 15x70 with tripod), I thought this may not be enough to view the things I haven't seen before that I want to (being near the equator there are a few constellations and deep sky objects I'd love to view!! I don't want to miss out! ha ha).

Could anyone recommend me a decent travel scope that at a dark site would give rewarding views? (and that doesn't cost or weigh too much! I don't want to spend more than £150)

Or would people here just settle for the bins alone if I'm at a truly dark location? :)

Thank you in advance,

Chris

The skywatcher offering looks good to me. I use a 70mm ED with carbon fiber tube for a few things, I have two of them. This is on offer from Teleskop Services in Germany at 319 euros at the moment, it would give better images buy it is without a mount. It is outside your budget though.

Alan.
