lhuchison
I'v been thinking of adding a Celestron C8 to my expanding collection of 'scopes. How would it compare to my SW200p and Tal100RS for general viewing?I like the large diameter of the 200p but not the coma. The Tal gives pin sharp stars but is only 100mmso a bit restricted for deep space. Is the C8 a good place to go? or would welcome some other ideas. andrew s
Leon - I would get a good quality coma corrector for the SW200p rather than go for a C8 - Andrew
Peter Drew
The C8 is an excellent scope but being as you already have a 200P and a Tal refractor the only advantage the C8 would offer is compactness.
LukeSkywatcher
I agree. Seen as you already have a 200mm scope and the only issue with it is coma, why spend oodles of cash on a C8 when a good coma corrector will get rid of the problem.Methinks you have aperture fever, and there isnt much more above a SW200p that you can buy to take the fever away.OK there is, but lets not go there.LOL
lhuchison
thanks guys, haven't pulled the trigger yet, probably take your advice and look into a comma corrector, as i'v put in a bit of work into the 200p, flocked it and upgraded the focuser. How good are these correctors?
