Imaging the Pleiades Star Cluster

Hi Everybody,

I want to get some shots of the Pleaides. At the moment, I can only see 3 or 4 stars in the cluster with my scope.

Could somebody advise a reducer I would need to get the whole cluster in the field of view,

if its at all possible.

I haven't spent much time messing with lenses so far, I just use my 20mm lens that came with the scope and a 15mm Plossal I bought about a year ago.

I find i get my best views through my finder scope although it would be nice without the crosshairs.

Sorry, just reread your post and realised you want some shots.

You won't be able to use a reducer on your newtonian.

You need a short focal length refractor to really get the whole field in - or a longer lens for your camera

Thanks for the advise, I've nether condisered a refractor, I'll look into it.

I'd probably go for a longer camera lens to be honest, that'll keep the load on the EQ1 down

you can get a canon 75-300 zoom for ~£100 on ebay

When it gets higher in the sky, I'm going to try with a 200mm lens on my 1000d mounted top of the scope, as this is a gorgeous constellation but just to big for the scope :-)
