How do you do your solar mosaics?

I've been trying to get an image of the whole solar disc but I end up with trouble when it come to merging. For a start I get either Microsoft ICE or Hugin to create the mosaic so I use iMerge. But I end up with an image that's not very well blended. Anyone able to describe how they do it? Do you use flats for solar images? Any advice appreciated, I use a PST.

i use imerge as well, only done a few though.in my my very limited experience it seems to be down to the balance of the images.they merge ok but there are sometimes bands where they overlap.

I've used imerge

and ps

file- automate -photomerge

I tend to use ps as I work with tiff think imerge works with jpeg and bitmap

that was the only downside, i found myself having to convert a lot of times to get to jpeg's

Thanks for the replies, I haven't got photoshop so will have to keep trying with iMerge etc.

I just did my first serious solar mosaic today. I did use flats, and then stitched in Photoshop Elements as I'm not convinced on the value of the full blown version.
