Takahashi Telescopes have a new supplier in the UK

The scopes look the business, but are way more than most other makes I've seen.

That looks a tasty scope Earl, am sure that I won't be the only one hoping to see some unboxing pics in the style that Deneb used to do when he used to hang out here. Have you gone through a long list of scopes over the years to have "arrived" at this one?

Chris I made the big mistake of trying to make silk purses out of pigs ears, it is in reality far better just to buy good from the get go. that is the lesson I have learnt. I have gone through way to many scopes and probably could of bought a complete Takahasi rig with all the money wasted in the process.

Is the idea to keep one ED80 as a backup then Earl, or do you have "interesting" plans for that?

No that will have a standard focuser put back on it and will be sold on.

Interestingly the picture on the website looks like the US EDX imaging version (until you click it, then you get the EDIII instead with the captains wheel).

That's a compelling argument - I guess that sometimes we need to "graduate" into the better quality kit - am soo tempted by a nice Frac for viewing ...a TV 85; they were on sale in teh US for $1999 too.....by the time I've added the cost of the 4 scopes I've owned, would almost be there too...
