Teflon tape

Recommended Posts

A while ago, I obtained some soft; silver tape (which I was told was Teflon tape) for packing out a focused to prevent slop.

All the tape was used on a previous scope, but now I find I'm in need of more for my current set up. A Google search just brings uo PTFE tape if the sort used by plumbers, which is not the same thing.

Anyone know where I can get some from please?

Have used plumber's white PTFE tape on the Heritage focuser with no bad results. It was bought for use with with my musical (not always when I'm playing) instruments and their value makes the more normal amateur astronomer wince.

Me too.

Thanks Oily, much appreciated. Just a half a meter or so would be wonderful please?

The roll we have at work is about 10cms wide,so would 50cm x 10cm be ok?

Thanks for posting that John. You never know when these little bits of information might come in handy (like when I finally get around to sorting out the focuser on the ST80 :)
