Tracking system on my dob

Im just looking into to it.....

Can anyone advise on a link to show how I can update my ordinary dobsonian to a dob that will track objects where my scope is pointed at(not sure how its called)?

I just want to have a look what I have to look for and what the prizes are, for that one day I will upgrade my dob.

Or is it better to get another mount for my 8" reflector? IF so, can you sent me a link to a track mount (however you call it)?

You're thinking of tracking platforms, I suspect: http://www.equatorialplatforms.com/

There are probably cheaper options and if you're handy you can make one yourself. It's probably still cheaper than getting a solid EQ mount and it's more portable, to boot. You can get an over-sized one so that it will cope with a future larger Dob.

I feel sure I've seen some DIY dob tracking projects in the DIY section though, so it might be worth a search there.

Look at Jan Van Gastel's dob page - lots of stuff, including a link to a Dutch manufacturer.

Also have a look at FS2 on telescope systems and picgoto on the yahoo forums - they all do alt-az dobs systems I believe

Or get with the program and build a horseshoe mount...
