Hi Jo, good to hear from you and thanks for the link. I have to say I have not been aware of these groups before, so thank you for that. Will you be going to this as you are nice and close? Philip might also be interested in this one as he is fairly local too.

Thanks for the links Jo. :)

The event on the first link looks interesting 'A night with the stars'. £25 tickets which is a little pricey and a bit of a trek down for me but I'm half tempted by it...

Well I guess they will have to cover Pete Lawrences expenses so a charge of some kind in reasonable, but whether £25 counts as reasonable I'll leave to others.

Unfortunately, I will be travelling back from holiday, via the NLO astro fair, on that day, so won't be able to make it, though I might well be out looking for th meteor shower if the skies are clear (fingers crossed)

Hi Jo, the meteor shower should be interesting and hopefully worth looking at. Most of them (well all of them actually) this year have been disappointing to say the least, but we must get a good one sooner or later.

Thanks for the links Jo. :)

Looked at the link a number of times before I twigged that it is a National Trust thing, so that would explain the rather hefty £25.

I have planned to do this but not with the national trust £25?????????

The showers will last for about five nights starting from 09/08/12 and will be best seen three hours before dawn.

The moon looks not to bad, thus a good zenithal hourly rate, maybe a record breaking rate of 170 plus ( I can dream)

Have fun
