Adapter ring tool

Adapter rings often have two holes on them, either side of a diamter. Presumably they are there to aid removal without damaging the threads.

Is there a tool that does this, and if so, what is it called. I know I can make a rough one from a lump of wood and two nails as all my (so-called) fine nose plyers will not fit. However, both options seem to do nothing buy score the ring.

They're called face spanner wrenches. They come in fixed and adjustable types.

Its a flange tool ,A bit like ones used on pushbikes to hold the bearing in. NO this one is for slots on the side Sorry . face spanner as john have put.
