Question on the HEQ5?

Hi all.

Can you use mains power to operate the mount, as I ain't got round to getting any batteries yet?

Obviously with a step down transformer.

Yep, you can run it off the mains but I'm not sure of the exact spec of the lead....

I use one on mine when not "In the field" , works fine.

It requires something a little more sophisticated than a 'step-down' transformer, which will only provide an AC output.

A regulated (at the required operating voltage) DC output power supply is what you need, and with a sufficient current rating for the 'job in hand'.

Maplin's would probably have something suitable.

Maplin's do a mains to 12vdc convertor.

The output is rated up to 5amp, so will power PRO mounts.

I use it and run the mount and dew straps as well, the unit doesn't even get warm.

PS I s'pose it's worth mentioning that Lidle often stock the 1-3 12v cig socket adapter for only a couple of quid.
