Bahtinov Mask query

Getting my first scope next week (Heritage 130P Flex) for viewing only and have been looking into eyepiece quality which in turn led me on to something called a 'Bahtinov Mask' used for focussing.

Is this something that would be of benefit to a beginner, or can I just trust my eyes which have served me well for most of my life?

I made a Bahtinov Mask for photography, but still sometimes use it for just observation focussing. It cost me nothing to make, but I'm not sure I would go out and spend money on one just for observation.

Agree, for visual make one yourself or don't bother.

If you want to make your own then: astrojargon - Bahtinov Focusing Mask Generator: Overview gived you a printable blank, just fill in the details of your scopes aparture and focal length. In theory you need a different mask for each size of scope but in practice you can get away with using the same one for several similar scopes if you need to.

You don't really need one for visual astronomy in my view.
