Best stuff for padding tube rings?

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased a set of 182 tube rings for my C6. They fit nearly perfectly but are just a few mm's too big. What is the best material to pad them out to fit? I was thinking felt/cork/rubber? Anything that gives a little. What are peoples experience with ring padding? Regrets and successes?

hehe, no no no, the OTHER book! Fortunatly Asda had ran out.

This is my Shiny new 6SE in it's new tube rings. As you can see the tube rings shove the OTA out from the mount only slightly but it's enough to enable me to slide the whole lot forward and balance my DSLR or binoviewers.

Thanks Phil. I've made a few small mods:

Over size focus knob to replace the rubber nubbin that comes with the SE range now

Tube rings for better balance

9x50 RACI finder, much better than a red dot finder

2" diagonal, only cause I couldn't find a 1.25" SCT diagonal!

Synta binoviewers, cheap and cheerful (although collimation STILL isn't right!)
