M51 from SGL7

A mere 1.5 hrs of Lum@ 1x1 and 30 mins each of RGB@ 2x2 and 30 mins Ha@ 1x1.

M51 has been my nemesis for processing and this is the first time I've made a version I'm happy with.

Still getting to grips with LRGB but I'm at last getting a grasp of the basics.

This was from the SGL 7 Sunday night which was fantastically clear. I had a few problems guiding, hence the brevity of the capture but I think it looks pretty good for the time.

Arrgghhh I knew it would haunt me, I've just noticed one of the frames is out of alignment after I've flattened the image. The Ha I think.

Here's a smaller crop that isn't as noticeable.

Great detail and colors Spiky, M51 is getting a lot of attention this last two weeks its such a wonderful Galaxy.

There's a heck of a lot there for a relatively short time. It's amazing what you can get under dark skies!
