I keep looking at the fuzzy stars and the crisp core though. It's somehow too far apart.....

I agree....im working on the data now....the problem i have is the the curve strtches for the outer arms are a lot more than the core, making the stars bloat and look hairy....ive also had to give the outer areas some noise reduction bringing down the grainyness to a more acceptable level....im reducing the amount of frames i need for the areas inside the far outer arms where the signal is still strong enough which will keep it sharper, it should give a more gradual transition from the galaxy disk to its outer areas
