Why won't my refractor come to focus?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have the Celestron c100 ed scope out now with the eyepieces that came with it and my own. I feel a fool, but using a diagonal in the focuser and putting ep's in the top of the diagonal, I cannot get any to come to focus on the moon?

It seems all their focus points are a little bit further than the focuser can possibly extend? Hopefully someone can shed some light on this, it is probably something really simple. It's a Celestron c100ed with an Antares dual speed focuser, diagonal is a pretty bog standard one. The objects nearly come to focus when the focuser is fully racked out.

I didn't know refractors needed extension tubes!?

Thanks,

I have done a bit of research and thinking. I believe it might be because I was using a 1.25" diagonal which doesn't use up as much of the optical path as a 2". Nevertheless, one is on its way :(

thanks all
