OO UK seems to be expanding. Came across an announcement from them that they've bought new premises twice the size of their current ones.

Wonder if they'll be bringing out anything new besides just increasing production?

That's interesting news. It was relatively recently that they re-vamped their product range, seeming to me to move "up market" a bit. Sounds like it might have paid off.

I visited their premises a little while back and am not surprised by this. The estate they were on was rather tatty and empty and they seemed like one of only a few companies still trading on their section.

As the owner of three of their scopes, I hope they keep making top quality for others to buy new and then sell on at a massive reduction a year or two later!

I've had the same Europa 250 for 8 years ago, never touched the optics (other than to spot the primary) and they're still tip-top - how long will the coating last?

But the same cannot be said of their mechanics - especially the 2-spoke spider with its horrible diffraction spikes. But I understand they've improved a lot since then. I wonder whether to upgrade...

The Hilux coatings are reputed to last 25+ years according to OO. My Europa 250 Deluxe dates from 2007 and the mirrors still look excellent.

They are moving, as far as I know, to a new premises over in Newcastle Under Lyme. It's bound to be a lot better than their current unit on the Crewe industrial estate. As for new products I understand they have an EQ mount in the works but that was just down a promotional poster they had in their office last time I was there.
