M13 - Widefield

centroid

Recommended Posts

I don't usually bother when the Moon full or near full, but with clear skies being a bit rare, I decided to go out and have a 'play' last night.

Not ideal, but better than watching 'the box' :police:

So, here's yet another M13!!

Widefield, with the ED80, 50x15 sec exposures, unguided, stacked and processed in AA4.

By unguided, do you mean you just point it at M13, expose for 15 seconds at a time and keep recentering it in the FOV?

Yes, the scope was pointed at M13, throughout the sequence of 50x15 sec frames but , no guiding was used, and no re-centering was needed.

I should add, that my Polar alignment is fairly accurate, and the Periodic Error (PE) of the mount, with the Periodic Error Correction (PEC) active, is 5 arc secs.

In short, this means that I can image unguided for perhaps 120 secs+ exposures, especially in widefield.

Hope this explains it ok.

Dave
