Jupiter again from 26th December without artefacts

Hello,

I finally got time to retry my Christmas Jupiter. This time no stacking artefacts !

However, I can still see one or three dust bunnies on the image and the recording that are derived from something located on the chip. Now I wonder if these are really made of dust. Because when I start out with a clean chip and no bunnies on a cold night the next session they are alway's there. And I use a IR/UV block filter which I had not removed inbetween. So could this be caused by dew when I move back in my warm house ?

And it turned out that transparency changed during recording because of smoke from a chimney from a nearby farm and also mist. This sometimes caused me to use the wrong gain settings and at moments during a recording the equatorial region bleached out....

Two differently processed Jups (can't choose).

I also wonder if it is unwise to put Jupiter so far away from the center. With a star test i see that collimation near the edge looks less perfect than nearer to the center of the field ? But I can't help adding a moon too when possible. I just like them too much :icon_scratch:

Nice job.

They are both nice but I slightly prefer the first.

Keeping the Planet centred V not centred would be an interesting comparison. I think you would need a very good night and a well polar aligned mount to be fair though.

Thanks everybody :icon_scratch:

I think the choice of pictures also depends on the monitor I'm using.

@Jarvo: This is in R5. Didn't try R6 again yet. The artefacts you describe sound exactly like the ones I showed in my previous thread.

On a Dutch forum someone adviced me to use fewer alignment points in R6 (about 5) and they should be within 2 thirds from the center of the planet and not closer to the edge of the planet in Registax 6.

Cheers,

Jeffrey
