Celestron XCEL-LX v Radian

I have been keeping an eye out for a used 5mm Radian lately but now considering trying a 5mm X-CEL LX. Any feedback welcome as to how it would stack up against the more expensive Televue.

i did read somewhere that the LX is the Radian in a cheaper coat, i have not compared but i am sold on the LX's.

i will be keeping an eye on this thread

Some people reported on CN that the Xcel LX 9mm and Pentax XF 8.5mm produces almost identical results. On other occasions the XF is said to be better than the Radian.

I'd be interested to hear if anyone have any experience with the three.

I have two Radians and like both very much. I am thinking of getting the Pentax XF 8.5 and if I do I will write up a comparison. The X-cel has a more Plossl-like 55 deg FOV, but the difference with the Radian's 60 deg FOV may not be important.

What is the difference between the X-Cel ED and the X-Cel LX?

They both seem similarly priced with big eye relief. I think the LX is the newer model.

In that case I would prefer the Radian at 20mm eye relief. the 15mm of my Meade 14mm UWA is just a bit tight.
