LOHA Ha images 02/01/12

Nice blue skies but a bitch of a wind hammering the telescope. I could only used 5% of the frames from each 60 second video @ 15fps which has significantly increased the noise level in the final images but something is better than nothing lol.

The FITS files were run through PixInsight after stacking in Registax.

All images taken with a PST stage 1 modified Lyra Optic 4" f/11 refractor with a DMK41 and 2.5x Powermate

Sunspots 11389 and 11388

Nice pics Kev, can't wait to see what your new setup can do later in the year. :)
Cheers Pete, I'm getting itchy fingers to get the Stage 2 completed, only a couple of weeks hopefully ;) and then to image the sun at a higher altitude.

I'm tempted to buy a DMK 21AU618.AS Mono USB camera to compliment the DMK41 and remove the need for the Powermate but I think I'm already oversampling with the imaging train I have.

Kev,

hang in there with the DMK41...I think it will be a better fit for your system...

No newton rings????

I'm not seeing any rings at the moment but I did get them early on with the DMK41 and Powermate. I think I resolved that problem by some mechanical adjustment of the alignment between components.
