Friend wants a first scope - TAL1?

After seeing Saturn and Jupiter through my scope, a mate is looking to buy a cheap scope for use in light-sodden east London.

What about a TAL1? There's one on ebay at £80 with some accessories.

What do you think?

They are great scopes. Best 2nd hand bargains out there.

Virtually bombproof, with no plastic in sight. All steel n alluminium.

£80 is at the higher end of the 2nd hand price scale, but if it's a later model, then it's still a good deal.

Tal 1 gets my vote too... and in the East End, they can also be used for deterring muggers with little to no chance of damaging the 'scope

The TAL-1 was my first scope and served me well for many years. Can't recommend them enough!

I've got my SkyWatcher Explorer 150P (Newest metallic black model) on a TAL EQ Mount up for sale for £150 if your friend is interested? It has the same mount that the TAL1 would come with by the way...

I recommend a TAL1 anyday, if it's the later model, in nice condition and near you then £80 is still ok but they often go for under 50 quid.
